π₯ MUST READ PR TIP
…because the best PR advice comes straight from the people who know
Journalist Rosie Taylor has noticed more PR pitches landing in her inbox tied to awareness days. But does giving your story a calendar hook actually make it more newsworthy?
βEditors couldnβt care less about it being an awareness day/week/month.β
That doesn’t mean awareness days are always a bad idea. Rosie recently had a national news outlet commission a story using exactly that approach. The trick is making sure you’ve got a story worth telling in the first place. If the awareness day adds a timely reason to cover it, great, but if it’s the only reason you’re pitching, you might want to rethink it.

After all, PR relies on a healthy news industry, so finding ways for publishers to get paid for their work is good news for both. read more
- AI could make PR’s measurement problem even worse – Ilex Content Strategies CEO Lucia Barbato warns that tracking brand mentions in ChatGPT and AI search could become just another set of numbers on the dashboard. Being visible in AI answers is useful, but it doesn’t automatically mean business results. read more
- PR wants future leaders, but who’s training them? – New research from Baylor University suggests the PR industry is expecting too much from emerging leaders without giving them the support to get there.
